BT Infinity–Superfast Fibre Optic Broadband

So, we were on O2 ADSL (up to 20mb\s) however, we’ve never had a very good ADSL line, usually connects at around 2.3 megs with upload speeds varying between 40 to 900 kb\s depending on how it felt, clearly.

As a web developer, I can’t live without the internet – it seems I get withdrawal symptoms very quickly when I’m not near “the internet”. So, BT called us to let us know we can now get up to 40mb\s broadband with them – who wouldn’t jump at that opportunity?

O2 Speed test results (you can see how sporadic it is):

So then, we still have our old O2 line (still in a contract with them for phones), the engineer came and installed BT Infinity, they originally quoted 27.5 and 5mb\s upload speed. Here’s the speed test results for them:

That’s nearly 10mb\s more than what they quoted and a slightly faster upload speed with heavily improved ping. Overall, I’m quite impressed however, there’s a lot of new equipment:

Looks quite a messed but, I guess it’s worth it.
